Fulfilling the function of an “embassage” to other nations.

For the past fifty years, the founders of Embassy University have worked with the government leaders of many nations, including New Zealand, Russia, Taiwan, Australia, Romania, China, Peru, and The Philippines.

These government leaders have requested that thousands of young people trained in the principles of this university come to their nations and teach their young people to be like them.

This outreach was fulfilling the final command of Jesus Christ to “make disciples of nations,” not simply people from the nations.
(Matthew 28:19-20)

Russian President Boris Yeltsin and his wife were so impressed with the young “ambassadors” that he sent his grandson back to America with them.

What is the significance of the name “Embassy”?

The English word “embassy” is from the old French embasse, which refers to a message sent by ambassadors. The middle English is embassage, and defines a sovereign sending an important message to other nations.

There is no greater sovereign than the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords. “For the Lord Most High is awesome; he is a great king over all the earth…He sits on the throne of his holiness…the shields of the earth belong to him” (Psalm 47:2,8,9). “He removes kings and raises up kings” (Daniel 2:21). “For the kingdom is the Lord’s and he is the governor among the nations” (Psalm 22:28).

God has called all believers to be ambassadors for him. (II Corinthians 5:20). He has given us a life and death message for all the nations of the earth and sent us out with His authority and power. (Matthew 28:18-20).

The tragedy is that the message that believers have been is not really working in their own lives. They cannot overcome the deadly stresses of anger, guilt, lust, bitterness, greed, fear, and envy. Therefore, they have no living message for the world.

Embassy University will change all this. Its core curriculum is based on the four-fold “formula” given to first century believers (Acts 2:42) that they used to “turn the world upside down” in their generation. (Acts 17:6). Students who faithfully internalize the Biblical and scientifically confirmed wisdom of the curriculum will be so thrilled with the results, that they cannot help telling everyone they can about God’s way of life!

After this picture was taken, these young people flew to Moscow, Russia at the invitation of their leaders to teach public school students what they had learned and applied in the Basic Youth Conflicts Seminar.

The Missing Foundation in Today’s Education

It is assumed that an expensive education is justified because it will prepare a student for a successful life. There is a growing awareness that this is not the case. Graduates are sent out to look for a job without the essential skills that are required for a truly successful life. Instead most have a debt load that will take years to pay off.

1. Failure to teach wisdom before knowledge

Today’s focus in education is to fill the “head brain” with knowledge. This leads to pride because “Knowledge puffs up [with pride]” (I Corinthians 8:1). The overlooked factor is that science has confirmed that we have three brains: the head brain, which is the weakest brain, the heart brain which controls the head brain, and the gut brain which is by far the strongest brain and controls the other two.

Wisdom is based on the fear of God and the character that is developed by the commands of Christ. These must be taught to our gut brain first. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the holy is understanding” (Proverbs 9:10). Riches, honor and life are by-products of gut brain training: “By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, honor and life” (Proverbs 22:4).

2. Failure to teach relationship skills

History confirms that weak nations result from weak families. Where can you find college training that prepares students to have a successful marriage and family? The divorce rate in America continues to be at 50% despite more and more graduates waiting longer to get married or refusing to be married in favor of live-in relationships.

A college graduate may get a high paying job and build up assets only to have them dissipated by divorce lawyers, court ordered payments and on-going conflicts with unwise decisions with the wrong kind of people. Training in essential character qualities is also missing from the college curriculum. Employers hire employees for the skills they learned at college and fire them for their lack of character.

3. Failure to teach life purposes

Life consists of far more than just a job. It involves discovering and fulfilling the purposes for which God created each one of us. Those who reach the top of their vocational pinnacle often express their disillusionment and frustration over empty achievements. They continue to look elsewhere for fulfillment. They leave a meaningless heritage to all their descendants.
